Mexico Fall to Czechia in historic first test match in Europe

Mexico fell to defeat against Czechia on Good Friday. The test match was Mexico’s first ever time playing senior Men’s international rugby in Europe. It also officially opened international competition between Czechia and Mexico.

Played at the Stadion Markéta in the national capital of Prague, Czechia were 54-27 winners over Las Serpientes. The home supporters were treated to an impressive showing from their team and the occasion was a success as demonstrated by the locals in attendance for the contest.

Czechia entered as favorites due to their higher place in the official World Rankings. Ranked 29th in the Men’s World Rankings on 54.78 points, Czechia had a notable margin between themselves and the 38th ranked Mexico who entered the match on 47.57 points.

The match was the first of two test matches for Las Serpientes in Europe this month. Game two will be played on April 10 with Mexico taking-on Croatia for the first time. Croatia are presently ranked 51st in the world Rankings on 44.54 points.
