In a thrilling Eliminator match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) held in Dallas on July 24, 2024, the Texas Super Kings outclassed MI New York with a comprehensive 9-wicket victory, advancing further in the tournament.

MI New York won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their innings got off to a rocky start with Dewald Brevis falling for a duck to Zia-ul-Haq in the very first over. Despite early setbacks, contributions from Shayan Jahangir (26 off 23 balls) and Monank Patel (48 off 41 balls) steadied the ship. The highlight of their innings was Rashid Khan, who played a blistering knock of 55 off just 30 balls, hitting four boundaries and four sixes.

Despite Rashid’s heroics, MI New York could only manage a total of 163/8 in their 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis was the pick of the bowlers for Texas, taking 2 wickets for just 18 runs in his 4 overs. Aaron Hardie and Dwayne Bravo also chipped in with crucial wickets to restrict New York’s scoring.

Chasing a target of 164, Texas Super Kings got off to a solid start with their openers, Devon Conway and Faf du Plessis, building a strong foundation. Du Plessis, who was named the Player of the Match, led from the front with a magnificent 72 off 47 balls, featuring six fours and three sixes. Conway provided steady support with an unbeaten 51 off 43 balls.

After du Plessis’ departure, Aaron Hardie came in and played a quickfire innings of 40 not out from 22 balls, sealing the victory with nine balls to spare. The Texas Super Kings finished their chase at 167/1 in 18.3 overs, showcasing a dominant batting performance.

Trent Boult and Kieron Pollard were the most expensive bowlers for MI New York, conceding 50 and 26 runs respectively in their spells, highlighting the challenges faced by their bowling unit against the formidable Texas batting lineup.
