Michael Vaughan slams Darren Lehmann for his statement on Joe Root not being ‘All time Great’

Former Australian batter Darren Lehmann has been facing heat from former England captain Michael Vaughan for his comments regarding star England batter Joe Root.

Darren recently made a claim that Joe Root is not an all-time great player since he has not yet scored a century in Australia.

As Virat Kohli and Steve Smith have scored centuries all over the world, former Australian head coach ranked both of them above the England star. However, the remarks did not end well with Michael, who responded to Darren by calling them nonsense and stating that Root is just about to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record.

What a load of nonsense. We’re talking about a player that could quite easily – if he stays fit and that back stays strong – surpass Sachin Tendulkar in a few years,” Vaughan said.

Root has scored 892 runs in Australia, averaging at 35.68 with 9 half-centuries. He is yet to score a century in 27 innings. However his form has been incredible since 2021 as he has become the all-time top run-scorer.

His career will always be flawed by the fact that he failed to score a century in Australia, and he is going to be eyeing to move over this blow when he returns for 2025-26 season.
