Today, the award-winning drivetrain company Microshift unveiled the Advent MX 11-speed MTB groupset…

Advent MX: 11 Speed Cable
Advent MX is a completely new design for Microshift. It is by far the most robust, high-performance group of drivetrain components the drivetrain component manufacturer has ever made for itself. It features a wholly new platform, including a long-cage derailleur, an 11-50 cassette, and an 11-speed shifter. This groupset was designed for OE mountain bike build specs, so it’s been engineered to take a beating.

MX Derailleur
There are two models for the Advent MX’s rear derailleur: the MX and the MX Pro (with a silver cage). These mechs utilize a horizontal parallelogram that only moves sideways, allowing the vertical and horizontal forces to be isolated. This means when you land, the forces go straight to the clutch, and that keeps the chain more stable.
The MX mechs were designed for low friction. The cable redirection pulley allows a more direct cable path and reduces cable friction and shifting tension. This allows the clutch to be stronger without increasing shifting force. Microshift started from the ground up, and it knew the strength of a mech relies on the clutch. Not only is the new clutch mechanism stronger, it also engages instantly and silently. The cover can also be removed for easy maintenance.
And the MX’s mechs have replaceable cages. If you send it too hard, you can swap in a new cage instead of replacing the whole derailleur.

MX 11-50 Cassette
Available in HG or XD configurations for the first time by Microshift, the new 11-50 cassette uses an aluminum spider and outer sprockets, adding durability where it’s needed, without packing on a bunch of weight. At 480g, it’s a featherweight compared to other high-durability cassettes on the market.
The cassette has also been designed to help you achieve faster shifting response thanks to SpeedRamp, which has dedicated shapes for moving the chain up AND down the cassette, making it lightning fast and the 11-28t cogs are made of extra hard chromoly.

MX Shifter
Tactile moments are where a groupset matters. Launching a whole new drivetrain system meant Microshift had to evaluate everything. A cheap feeling shifter can ruin a drivetrain. The Advent MX shifter features 4x faster engagement, improved ergonomics, and an adjustable clamp. With 12mm of lateral adjustment, you can easily adjust the shifter’s contact point inboard or outboard without interfering with your brake levers.
John has been riding the new Advent MX groupset but doesn’t have enough miles on it for a proper review. Stay tuned! Til then, roll on over to Microshift to see more.
