MIDNITE PARADES GIANT CHIP BUTTY AHEAD OF STEEL CITY DERBY

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Midnite – the fastest-growing sportsbook in the UK and principal partners of Sheffield United – unveiled a giant chip butty, ahead of yesterday’s Steel City derby against Sheffield Wednesday.

Each home match, Blades fans belt out their chip butty anthem at the top of their lungs, with the song becoming synonymous with Bramall Lane.

To celebrate this unique connection, Midnite created a giant chip butty which was on display ahead of the Blades’ 2-1 win, which relegated city rivals Wednesday.

As part of the campaign, Midnite will be donating hundreds of chip butties to local homeless charities and food banks in the Sheffield area in the coming weeks.

As Sheffield United’s front-of-shirt sponsors, Midnite have taken a hands-on approach to giving back to fans in the city of Sheffield.

Initiatives throughout the season have seen Midnite cover fan travel for away matches, as well as giving Blades fans fresh haircuts at the start of 2026 to mark the new year. Additionally, in a show of support to Blades boss Chris Wilder, a 50 square metre mural now proudly stands opposite the stadium.

In this latest initiative, the giant chip butty – which has been made in collaboration with Sheffield’s Brook Bakery – was standing proud on the touchline prior to kick-off.

Andrew Mook, Head of Brand at Midnite, said: “We wanted to give something back to Sheffield United fans in a way that is synonymous with the club. The chip butty anthem is instantly recognisable as being something unique to Sheffield United, and by creating a giant chip butty, we wanted to have some fun, while ultimately delivering a strong message.

“Midnite is dedicated to offering value to Sheffield United fans. We aren’t just here to use the club and stick our logo on the shirt. We want to become a part of the club, and our initiatives and activations have all been designed to bring fans closer to the clubs they love.

“It has been great to work alongside local Sheffield businesses to create the chip butty, and then to help give back to the community foodbank and charities.”
