MJF isn’t exactly known for modesty — and during a recent interview he made it very clear how important he believes he is to All Elite Wrestling.
While speaking with Denise Salcedo, MJF was asked about a previous comment where he suggested he might never leave AEW. Salcedo brought up the remark directly and asked if he truly sees AEW as the place he’ll remain long term.
Before giving his full answer, MJF first admitted that nothing in professional wrestling is ever guaranteed. He pointed out how unpredictable the industry can be and even referenced someone who once insisted they would never return to a certain company — only to eventually do exactly that.
“Okay. I can’t say never in wrestling—it’s pro wrestling. Somebody who I hate once said they would never go there, and they went there.”
Despite acknowledging that anything can happen in wrestling, MJF said his honest feeling right now is that AEW is his company and that he sees himself as the promotion’s top star. He then took things a step further and claimed that AEW would struggle significantly if he were no longer part of the roster.
“But if you ask me my honest, genuine opinion, All Elite Wrestling is my company. I’m the biggest star this company has. I’m the star that this company needs. If I leave, this company’s f****** done, if we’re being honest. Nobody creates as much buzz as me. Nobody is as big of a draw as me. Nobody is as good as me in the ring or on the microphone.”
The Salt of the Earth argued that if AEW is going to remain a true alternative in professional wrestling, it needs a major star capable of reaching audiences outside the traditional wrestling bubble. To support that claim, MJF pointed to the success he’s already had outside of wrestling, noting that his career is expanding into the entertainment industry as well.
“If there’s going to be an alternative, that alternative needs to have a top act that has managed to get his name outside of the wrestling bubble. You’re looking at a guy who was in the most streamed Netflix movie of all time. You’re looking at a guy who has a Universal movie coming out in December, Violent Night 2.”
He also teased that there are additional projects currently in development in Hollywood. With his wrestling career and outside ventures both gaining traction, MJF wrapped things up by boldly claiming he’s a major reason AEW is thriving right now.
“And I’ve got a lot of other things I can’t talk about right now that are also in the works in Hollywood. So things are big right now, and I’m proud to be unequivocally the reason that AEW is so successful in 2026.”
Whether fans agree with him or not, MJF clearly isn’t dialing back the confidence — and if you ask him, AEW’s future is tied directly to the man holding the microphone.
Do you think MJF is truly AEW’s most important star right now, or is the company bigger than any one wrestler? Let us know what you think in the comments.
