MJF Explains Why He May Never Leave AEW

MJF has spent years teasing a possible jump to WWE, but the AEW World Champion is now suggesting he may never leave All Elite Wrestling at all.

Ahead of AEW Dynamite in El Paso, Texas, MJF spoke with KVIA about why he continues to stay with the company. According to him, the biggest factor is the creative freedom he enjoys and the trust AEW CEO Tony Khan has placed in him as one of the promotion’s top stars. MJF explained that AEW allows him to be himself without restrictions and believes that freedom is a major reason why he remains committed to the company.

“What keeps me in AEW is my ability to be myself. There’s no leash on me. I don’t have to worry about anybody sitting me down and telling me what I’m doing right or wrong.”

The reigning AEW World Champion also pointed to the company’s recent business momentum, claiming that rising ratings and ticket sales are proof that the formula is working.

“My boss knows I’m the draw. I have the world title right now. Ratings are up. Ticket sales are up — I wonder why — and he lets me do my thing. So I don’t think I’ll ever leave.”

MJF didn’t stop there. The outspoken champion also looked ahead at his long-term future in the wrestling business, making it clear he expects to remain at the top of the industry for years to come.

“Let’s be honest the next two decades, if you look at the top acts in professional wrestling nowadays, everybody’s in their late 40s, early 50s. I’m the youngest top act by several country miles. What does it [next decade] look like to me? Dominance. In one word, dominance.”

MJF signed a massive contract extension with AEW in 2024 that reportedly made him one of the highest-paid performers in the company. Even though he has teased the idea of jumping to WWE in the past, his latest comments suggest he’s comfortable remaining where he is for the foreseeable future.

Of course, at just under 30 years old, MJF still has plenty of years left in his career, which means the possibility of a future move can never be ruled out entirely.

Do you think MJF will actually stay in AEW long-term, or will he eventually test the waters in WWE later in his career? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
