Lionel Messi continues to make history in Major League Soccer and has led Inter Miami CF to its first MLS Cup. That said, the Argentine is not the league’s only superstar.
Messi, 38, has already made a historic season with the Herons, becoming champions of the Eastern Conference and preparing to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the tournament’s grand final.
Thomas Muller is another of the stars who will participate in this crucial match scheduled for Dec. 6 at Chase Stadium.
Other notable players also fell short, such as Son Heung-Min of Los Angeles FC or Emil Forsberg of the New York Red Bulls.
Even so, the recently mentioned players do not come close to Lionel Messi in terms of goal and assist records. Only one player came close, and there is a possibility he will leave MLS soon.

San Diego FC’s Anders Dreyer could leave MLS after Messi-level season
Anders Dreyer, one of San Diego FC’s designated players, could leave the United States soon. Or at least, he left that possibility open in a recent press appearance.
Dreyer, 27, spoke to SanDiego.Futbol, and when asked if he is confident he will continue with the California team next season, the Dane preferred not to close any doors.
“I have two more years in San Diego. I signed for three years. But I learned also in football, you never say never. We don’t know what will happen, I don’t know what will happen,” said Dreyer.
“Of course, it’s a bigger decision. It’s not only me, but it’s the club and what they want. So I think now I’m gonna enjoy a little bit a rest. And then of course in a week or two I’m gonna start thinking about football again.”
Dreyer recorded 40 goal contributions this season in MLS and is only behind Messi in this category (56). In total, he scored 23 goals and gave 17 assists.
The Dane was key to San Diego FC reaching its first Conference final in its inaugural season, and at his young age, it is not impossible to think that a European club could knock on his door to offer him a return to the Old Continent.
