MOC accepts proposal to assist with equipment for paralympics

The MOC has greenlit several proposals to provide equipment assistance to both athletes and Para Athletes gearing up for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This initiative aims to support their training and preparation, ensuring they have the necessary resources to compete at the highest level.

MOC stands for the Mission Olympic Sports that comes under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The Mission Olympic Cell is a dedicated body created to assist the athletes who are selected under the TOP Scheme. The MOC is under the Chairmanship of the Director General, Sports Authority (DG, SAI).

MOC Approves Bhavina Patel’s proposal

In today’s meeting, the MOC approved Paralympic Table Tennis medallist Bhavina Patel’s proposal for assistance to participate in the ITTF Para Table Tennis Asia Training Camp 2024 in Thailand from July 16 to 20, along with her coach and escort.

The MOC also approved requests from Para Shooters Manish Narwal, Rudranksh Khandelwal, Rubina Francis, and Sriharsha R Devareddy for various sports shooting equipment. This includes an Air Rifle for Sriharsha and a Morini Pistol for Rubina.

Additionally, they approved assistance for para-athlete Sandeep Choudhary to procure two javelins: a Valhalla 800g Medium NXB and a Diana Carbon 600g.

The request for financial assistance for these players was approved

Apart from equipments, the MOC also approved the proposals to provide financial assistance to some of the athletes.

The MOC also approved financial assistance for the procurement of archery equipment for archers Ankita Bhakat, Deepika Kumari, and para-archers Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar.

The MOC approved assistance for Judoka Tulika Maan and her coach to train at the Valencia Judo High Performance Centre in Spain until July 25.

Additionally, they approved table tennis player Manush Shah’s request for financial assistance to train in Gyeonggi Do, South Korea under Korean Coach Taejun Kim and to procure physical fitness equipment.
