Mohammed Shami said I don’t think Gujarat Titans will retain me in IPL 2025

Indian team and Gujarat Titans star pace bowler Mohammed Shami is now practicing in the nets after ankle surgery. He is out of the Indian team after the 2023 ODI World Cup. There is speculation that he may return to the team in the Test series against Bangladesh.

Shami has been out of the cricket field for a long time due to ankle surgery. He was also out of IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup 2024 held in USA and West Indies.

Shami has been playing for Gujarat Titans for the last two seasons, and in just two seasons, he has taken 48 wickets for the franchise. Shami is one of those players on whom no franchise trusts for a long time, he is dropped from the team despite consistently performing well for the franchise.

There is a mega auction of IPL in 2025, according to the rules, each franchise can retain four players in its team. In such a situation, after asking Mohammed Shami about his IPL-2025 retention in an interview, he gave such an answer.

“I don’t have any team in mind. I was not retained by Delhi Capitals. I took 60 wickets for the Punjab Kings, but they allowed me to leave, and I joined Gujarat. I have taken 48 scalps for them in just two seasons, and if they don’t retain me, I don’t care. I will give my best for the team who buy me in the auction. If Gujarat need performers, they will retain players, but if they want good faces, they can opt for models. I have a clear perspective in life. I want to give my best,” – Mohammed Shami
