Monza filming day set for April 22, other sessions at Mugello and Fiorano

Ferrari’s April track program

Ferrari has a busy month of testing planned in April, with three key track commitments. On Wednesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 2, the team will conduct TPC tests at Mugello. These sessions involve previous-generation cars, with reserve drivers Antonio Giovinazzi, Arthur Leclerc, and Antonio Fuoco taking turns behind the wheel.

Italian motorsport outlet AutoRacer.it revealed Ferrari’s detailed plans for April testing, highlighting the importance of these early sessions for car development and driver evaluation.

Following this, on Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10, the Ferrari SF-26 will run on Fiorano’s artificially wet track. At least one of the team’s main drivers will participate, allowing Ferrari to gather critical data on performance in wet conditions.

Monza filming day: the most anticipated test

The highlight of Ferrari’s April schedule is the filming day at Monza, set for Wednesday, April 22. During this session, the team will focus extensively on the evolved ‘Macarena’ wing, which has been under development for several weeks. Although this wing did not appear at the recent Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka as originally planned, it will be eligible for use during the filming day because it was already utilized in FP1 at Shanghai and thus cannot be considered a new component.

During the 200 km planned at Monza, Ferrari will test the adjustable wing with the goal of deploying it at the Miami Grand Prix, beginning the long process of closing the performance gap to Mercedes. Other teams may also participate on the Monza track alongside Ferrari.

An April without races

As reported in recent weeks, Formula 1 has canceled the Bahrain GP scheduled for April 10 and the Saudi Arabian GP on April 17 due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. This opens up a rare four-week window without a single race. F1 will return to action on the Miami GP weekend, starting May 3.

This extended break provides an opportunity for the FIA and Formula 1 management to meet with teams and discuss potential technical regulation changes for the current and future seasons. Ferrari will use the downtime to optimize testing and prepare its SF-26, ensuring it enters the Miami GP with the best possible setup and development upgrades.
