The Manitoba Moose announced this morning that they have signed forward Davis Burnside and defenceman Lukas Gustafsson to AHL contracts through the 2026-27 season. Both players will join Manitoba for the rest of this season on PTOs (professional tryouts).

Burnside, 22, captained the Ohio State University Buckeyes for the second straight season while recording 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points in 37 games. The Fountain Hills, AZ product posted 112 points (49G, 63A) in 155 career NCAA games with Ohio State.
The six-foot forward was named to the 2025 Big Ten Conference Honorable Mention All-Star Team. Prior to his college career with the Buckeyes, he contributed 57 points (26G, 31A) in 135 USHL games split between the Tri-City Storm, Des Moines Buccaneers, and Dubuque Fighting Saints.
Gustafsson, 23, recorded six goals and 16 assists for 22 points in 36 games while captaining the Boston College Eagles this season. The Metairie, LA product put up 72 points (14G, 58A) in his 147-game college career with Boston College.
The defenceman was named to the 2026 Hockey East Third All-Star Team. Prior to his collegiate career, the defender tallied 42 points (12G, 30A) in 73 USHL games with the Chicago Steel, the team he won the USHL Championship with in 2021.
Burnside and Gustafsson both join a Moose club that’s trying to make it back into the Calder Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2023-24 and catch the Texas Stars, who are in third place in the Central Division with 70 points. Manitoba, which has 68 points and sits fourth in the Central, has nine games left in the AHL regular season.
The Moose kick off their final homestand of the season on Friday at 2:00 p.m. CT against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Canada Life Centre.
