The Jets came out flying in the first period, but that didn’t stop Vancouver from opening the scoring on their first shot of the contest. Linus Karlsson took a drop pass from Max Sasson as they entered Winnipeg’s zone and fired a wrist shot from the right face-off dot past Connor Hellebuyck’s shoulder for his 12th of the season.
It took nearly 40 minutes for the Jets to answer back as Mark Scheifele tied the game with just over 10 seconds remaining in the second frame. Jonathan Toews won an offensive-zone face-off right to Scheifele, who cut into the middle of the ice and beat Kevin Lankinen glove side with a wrist shot to hit 30 goals for the fifth time in his NHL career.

Morrissey wasn’t done there.
Just 1:49 into overtime, Scheifele cut into the middle of the ice in the Canucks’ zone and fed a pass to Morrissey just above the right face-off dot, where he blasted a one-timer past Lankinen for his 11th and the franchise-record-setting point for most by a defenceman in franchise history.

Morrissey’s fifth career overtime goal tied Marc Savard and Blake Wheeler for the seventh most in Jets/Thrashers history.
Hellebuyck made 21 saves as the Jets extended their point streak to six games and improved to .500 (26-26-10) for the first time since Dec. 15.
“Obviously, he’s been out. To come back and have to get into a game like that, we wanted to ease him in, but as you saw, his minutes got up there again. At the end of the day, what a great way to get the record, in a game like that. Having him back, it’s great to have,” said head coach Scott Arniel postgame. “Obviously, when you’re missing your top defenceman, it puts a lot of strain in a lot of different areas. On the road trip, with all of those overtimes and not having him. He’s a difference-maker when he’s out there.”
Forward Isak Rosen had one shot on goal in 11:24 of ice time in his Jets debut, while defenceman Jacob Bryson had one shot and a hit while skating 15:58 in his debut, per NHL Stats.
