Motherwell go viral on social media with emotional but important video raising awareness

Motherwell go viral on social media with emotional but important video raising awareness of suicidal thoughts and depression.

The Scottish Premiership club posted the clip which used a shadowy figure to symbolise how these issues can infiltrate everyday life, urging viewers to seek help from loved ones.

In 2023, 1,840 young people under the age of 35 took their own lives in the UK. On average, around five young people take their lives each day, and over 200 teenagers are lost to suicide every year.

Research shows that with appropriate early intervention and support, suicide by young people can be prevented.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Suicidal thoughts and depression can quietly infiltrate your life, influencing every moment, every action, and every day.

This ongoing struggle can gradually gain control, but it doesn’t have to.

When you don’t have the strength to take another step, ask those you love to pull you. You’re never alone in this.

In 2024, there were 704 probable suicide deaths in Scotland. 704 too many. We will keep fighting to help those who need it. Speak up, speak out, be heard.

As mentioned, Motherwell go viral on social media with their emotional but important video raising awareness…

@sebleonard93: What an outstanding video to reflect how it feels to feel like this and the importance of the matter. I’ve been there myself and it’s a dark, dark place. Massive respect to Motherwell for raising this issue especially what is the toughest time of year for some 🙏💚

@fhaughey09: Lost my brother to suicide and always had a mental image of depression like a black cloud enveloping him, but the image in this video is far more powerful, well done to whoever made this video it really hits home.

@lewisdufc01: It’s always worth having a watch of something like this, especially in the winter months when it’s darker outside and it can get more depressing at times for a lot of people.

@Mmajor7th: As a survivor I’m grateful you made this video. However, I’d like to remind people that reaching in is just as important a lifeline to those who have got to the point where they’ve lost faith in the power of reaching out.

@Rob71286680: Well done alcohol is not your friend it only makes things worse I should know 🙏
