MotoGP – Buriram Test Day 2

Marco Bezzecchi breaks the track record during the final day of testing in Buriram, while both Márquez brothers had incidents.

An Exiting Morning Session

It was an exciting early part of the session this morning on the second day of Buriram Testing. The session started 30 minutes earlier than the day before. Within the first forty-five minutes of the session, Aprilia rider Bezzecchi put in an impressive 1:28.952. However, throughout the morning session, both Ducati Lenovo riders, Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez, went faster during the morning session. The current World Champion, #93 rider, put in an impressive 1:28.836. His time was only 0.183 seconds slower than the track record from 2024.

While the riders were edging closer to the track record, the early part of the session was not without technical issues. Both Pertamina Enduro VR46 and Prima Pramac Yamaha teams were encountering issues. This kept Fabio Di Giannantonio and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, respectively, off the track for the early part of the session.

The morning timesheets were topped by the Ducati duo, Marc Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia, followed by Marco Bezzecchi and Álex Márquez.

Red Flag, Technical Issues & A New Track Record

The afternoon session was off to a quiet start. Only Álex Márquez took to the track within the first hour of the afternoon session. During the second hour, the session picked up with teams using the afternoon to gather data and fine-tune setups for the season opener by running Sprint and Grand Prix simulations.

After controlling the combined timesheets for most of the day, and despite struggling with sickness, #93 rider Marc Márquez had a crash at Turn 3. Márquez was taken to the medical centre for a check-up. The accident was the current World Champions’ third this weekend, but he managed to return to the track in the final hour.

Álex Márquez paid a visit to the medical centre after he crashed on lap 11 of his race simulation. The rider was unharmed, and the session was red-flagged to improve the track conditions at Turn 3.

In a session filled with Sprint and Race Simulations came the new track record, after an impressive 20-lap race simulation by Bezzecchi. The Aprilia Racing Rider put in a flying lap of 1:28.668, beating the current track record by 0.032 seconds.

Aprilia One-Two Rounds Up The Timesheets

With Bezzecchi topping the final combined timesheet for day two, he was closely followed by fellow Aprilia rider Ai Ogura. Despite his earlier stumble, the current world champion, Marc Márquez, was 3rd. The top 5 were rounded up by Bagnaia and Álex Márquez.

With the final two days of testing done, next up is the opening round of the 2026 Season in Buriram on 1st March.
