The first WWE SmackDown of the new year is going to be a big one and will feature a match with a shot at a title on the line.
During this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown (which was pre-taped in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on December 19), it was revealed that Michin and Jade Cargill would get a chance to settle their differences in the ring.
After going back and forth for a few weeks, the two women will meet in the ring. Should Michin come out on top, she’ll earn a shot at Jade Cargill’s WWE Women’s Championship. In an interview backstage, Cargill told Michin to bring her kendo stick if she wanted, but it wouldn’t matter.
Elsewhere in the night, an eight-woman tag team match is set to take place. The foursome of Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley, and IYO SKY will all team up. Opposite them will be Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Asuka, and Kairi Sane.
The eight women have all been feuding with one another, and will now get the chance to either settle or continue their issues in the ring. Aleister Black will also take on Damian Priest in singles action.
The fully updated card for the January 2 episode of WWE SmackDown is as follows:
- 8 Woman Tag Team Match: Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Rhea Ripley, and Iyo Sky vs. Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Asuka, and Kairi Sane.
- Jade Cargill vs. Michin (Michin receives a WWE Women’s Championship shot)
- Damian Priest vs. Aleister Black
