Nadine de Klerk, Danni Wyatt, and Sharmin Akhter Nominated for ICC Women’s Player of the Month

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month award for November 2024. The shortlist features South Africa’s versatile all-rounder Nadine de Klerk, England’s explosive batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge, and Bangladesh’s dependable top-order batter Sharmin Akhter.

Nadine de Klerk’s All-Round Performance Against England

Nadine de Klerk was the one who played a key role in South Africa’s T20I series whitewash against England. The 24-year-old was an all-round brilliance as she made it count both with the bat and the ball. She scored 80 runs across the three matches at an incredible average of 80, striking at 135.59. Despite her performances, South Africa lost 3-0 to England.

Some of her notable performances included an unbeaten 29 and 2/20 for the first game of the series. In the second, de Klerk maintained composure by scoring an unbeaten 32 while putting up another solid bowling attack with 2/36. Hence, she has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month Award for November.

Dani Wyatt-Hodge’s Destruction with the Bat

England’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge dominated South Africa in the T20I series. She emerged as the top run-scorer. The dynamic opener amassed 142 runs at a staggering average of 71 and an electrifying strike rate of 163.21.

After a quiet start in the first game, Wyatt-Hodge found her rhythm with a match-winning 78 in the second T20I. She then sealed the series with an unbeaten 53 in the final game, underlining her ability to perform under pressure. Her consistency was instrumental in England’s 3-0 series victory.

Sharmin Akhter Emerges as a Star for Bangladesh.

Sharmin Akhter played a key role in Bangladesh’s ODI series triumph against Ireland. The right-hander delivered two crucial innings, accumulating 139 runs at an average of 69.50 and a strike rate of 91.44.

In the series opener, Akhter narrowly missed her maiden ODI century, top-scoring with 96 in Bangladesh’s commanding 154-run win. She followed it up with a vital 43 in the second game, helping her side secure an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
