Bangladesh’s fast-rising pacer Nahid Rana, who made an immediate impression on his debut by helping the team defeat Pakistan in a historic 2-0 win, is looking forward to the away Test series against India. The 21-year-old quickly reached up to 150 kph and this was particularly evident during the last Test at Rawalpindi where he took 4/44 to help Bangladesh make history by sweeping Pakistan 2-0. “We have prepared ourselves well for the India series. We have started training. The more we are prepared the better we will be in execution during the matches,” Rana said in a video shared by Bangladesh cricket @Bcb_looking in to X, which was previously known as twitter
“India is a good team but if any team plays better cricket then it will win after all,” he said when asked about India’s strength adding that they would see once they got there. From Chapainawabganj burst forth a new star in Bangladesh cricket with his capacity of bowling at high speed over prolonged periods.
He broke into headlines after clocking over 150kph when he made his Test debut against Sri Lanka earlier this month March.
Later on, he proved himself as a real danger among genuine fast bowlers in Pakistan through doing immediate impact during second Test match between them.
On the third delivery, he caught Shan Masood out while Babar Azam was dismissed later within next over.
According to him, “before I left, I had made a commitment to my country and I feel good that I have fulfilled the expectations”.
In Chennai, which is noted for its heavenly bouncing pitches, the first test is scheduled to take place.
Rana was asked if he could again reach the 152 kilometers per hour speed limit and he said, “I will always try to improve what I do”.
“Pace is something you cannot exactly tell – it makes a lot of difference with rhythm. At times it just clicks and you find yourself there at those speeds.”
There was never really any reason why I wanted to reach 152 kph or even go beyond it. It was primarily about executing on behalf of my teammates. My friends back home are ecstatic about what I have done,” he said.
After completing his studies, Rana benefitted from enrollment into an academy by his elder brother who had just completed college in 2020.
His debut in first class cricket came during October 2021 and within that season itself he had already taken an impressive number of wickets 32 to be precise.
The 2022-23 National Cricket League saw Rana alongside his compatriot Khan achieve the unimaginable by both taking more than 30 wickets, something not witnessed in more than a decade for fast bowlers competing in domestic first-class competitions.
He said this as part of his determination to do things differently: “I don’t want to be like other people; I want my name to become famous as Nahid Rana from Bangladesh,” Rana stated.
He added: “I haven’t studied on one specific bowler; rather I have observed everything around me from elders or those who grew up before me.
