Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is on the seventh sky after Bangladesh won over Pakistan in the first test in Rawalpindi cricket stadium on August 25. he said that Bangladesh team believed that they could win over Pakistan on their own grounds.
The Bangladsh team achieved their first-ever Test victory against Pakistan since their initial encounter in 2001. Bangladesh also created history by becoming the first team who defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets. After they faced initial difficulties since Pakistan declared 448 for six in their first innings, Bangladesh later on turned the game in their favour.
Shanto also revealed his chat with his wife before Bangladesh shocked Pakistan in their own home pitch.
“It’s very special, last night I spoke with my wife. She said if we win, it will be very good and luckily, we won today,” Shanto said.
Shanto also recognized the contributions of the bowlers, especially Shakib Al Hasan and Nahid Rana, as they performed exceptionally well. Shanto also praised Shadman Islam, as he secured 93 runs in the first innings.
“It’s very massive, we had never won here, but we believed before the start of the series and we did really well. Especially in the last 10-15 days, we have worked really hard. Credit goes to all the bowlers, Nahid bowled really well, Shakib was also good. Playing after a long time it’s difficult for an opener but the way he (Shadman) and Zakir batted, it really helped our team,” Shanto added.
