Nakisa Bidarian talks a ‘pass the baton’ dream fight for Caroline Dubois

On April 5, at the Olympia in London, Caroline Dubois vs Terri Harper headlined a Most Valuable Promotions fight card, live on Sky Sports for fans in the UK, and ESPN+ for those in the U.S.

After a cagey start, Dubois began to go through the gears and thoroughly deserved her unanimous decision victory to become the unified WBC/WBO women’s lightweight world champion. In the post-fight press conference, the MVP co-founder, Nakisa Bidarian, named one “pass the baton” fight for Dubois.

The opening rounds were cagey between Dubois (13-0-1, 5 KOs) and Harper, but “Sweet Caroline” began to trouble Harper with her speed and accuracy.

Dubois enjoyed a strong end to the fourth round, catching Harper (16-3-2, 6 KOs) with a straight left. Harper showed her savvy defence in the early rounds, but once Dubois found her range, she couldn’t miss.

Harper showed her toughness and tried to fight back, but Dubois proved to be a level above, scoring a knockdown in round six, and proved too sharp for the rest of the fight, winning by unanimous decision with scorecards of 98-91×2, and 97-92, crowning Dubois the WBC/WBO women’s lightweight unified champion.

It was an impressive performance from Dubois as she began to dominate Harper.

Dubois has spoken positively about a fight with Katie Taylor, and Nakisa Bidarian has welcomed this opportunity for Dubois:

“My dream scenario is for Caroline [Dubois] to be the last dance partner of Katie Taylor. The goat Chantelle Cameron just walked in, and I know Katie Taylor won’t take that fight, but maybe Katie Taylor seizes an opportunity to pass the baton. Not pass it, but give Caroline the opportunity to take the baton from her. And I think that would be a massive fight at Croke Park,” said Bidarian.
