The previously arcade cabinet-only Ridge Racer title, Rave Racer, to be released on Switch, Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this month.

Rave Racer, a previously arcade-cabinet-only Ridge Racer series entry, will be receiving its first-ever home console release.
The Namco racing game was the third game in the accessible driving game series. It hit arcades in 1995, following the original Ridge Racer in 1993 (with an original PlayStation port arriving across 1994 and 1995) and the arcade-only Ridge Racer 2.
It came before the second title to hit consoles, Ridge Racer Revolution, but within the same year.
This has been converted by Hamster Corporation, as part of its long-running Arcade Archives re-release series.
Last year, it converted the original arcade-cabinet version of the maiden Ridge Racer game – again a home console first, as the original PlayStation version did have some differences.
Announced as part of today’s (5th February 2026) Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Rave Racer will be released for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on 26th February 2026.
At the time of publication, there’s no word on a PlayStation version – although for the recent Ridge Racer conversion, that arrived at the same time as the Nintendo launch.
The game features two additional tracks compared to the inaugural franchise entry, and a home conversion for PC and PlayStation was announced in 1996, but was ultimately cancelled.

Following the initial unveil for Switch and Switch 2, Hamster Corporation confirmed at 5.25 pm UTC via social media that Rave Racer will indeed also be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
