Pakistan Revamps Stadiums for 2025 Cricket World Cup: Naqvi Takes Charge

Pakistan is gearing up for the 2025 Cricket World Cup with a massive $17 billion renovation project aimed at upgrading its iconic cricket stadiums.

Leading the charge is Naqvi, who has been closely monitoring the progress to ensure that the venues are ready to host the prestigious event.

As quoted by India Today, Naqvi stated that providing basic facilities in stadiums is their first priority, emphasising the importance of enhancing the infrastructure to meet international standards.

Naqvi recently visited the 27,000-seater stadium in Lahore, a historic venue in Pakistan, to review the proposed upgrades.

The visit also included a trip to BDP Patterns, a renowned architectural firm in London, where Naqvi approved the designs for the renovation of key venues.

This overhaul comes at a critical time as Pakistan seeks to solidify its reputation as a top cricketing nation by offering state-of-the-art facilities.

A Focus on World-Class Facilities

Pakistan, despite its rich cricketing heritage, has long struggled with outdated infrastructure.

Recognizing this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allocated approximately PKR 17 billion to refurbish the country’s top stadiums.

Naqvi assured that the Frontier Works Organisation, the team responsible for the renovations, is working tirelessly to make the stadiums among the best in the world.

The upgrades aim to provide basic yet essential facilities that have been lacking, such as modern seating, better lighting, and improved amenities for players and spectators alike.

ICC Endorsement and Future Prospects

The decision to upgrade the stadiums was initiated entirely by the PCB, reflecting their commitment to elevating Pakistan’s cricketing infrastructure.

Representatives from the International Cricket Council (ICC) have already visited the three main stadiums undergoing renovation and have deemed them fit to host matches for the upcoming 50-over event.

This endorsement is a significant milestone for Pakistan, which aims to deliver an unforgettable experience for cricket fans worldwide during the 2025 World Cup.
