Nebraska Volleyball’s Andi Jackson revealed the real reason behind why she tapes her fingers during her games. She and her fellow Huskers recorded their 32nd straight win this season, punching their ticket to the NCAA Regional Semifinals after trouncing Kansas State.
Jackson is in her junior year, playing as a middle blocker, and has been integral in Nebraska’s undefeated streak in the 2025 season.
Nebraska Volleyball’s Andi Jackson Shares How Taping Her Fingers Helps Her Game
Jackson, whose kills in the 2024 season placed her sixth in the nation and fourth in school history, revealed that taping her fingers brings stability as it helps her set the ball better, something she has been doing in every game and using to her team’s benefit. She said:
“I feel like they’re more stable when I do it. I feel like when they bend backwards, they bend less. And also, it’s just like a personal preference thing. My hands feel more sturdy. I feel like I can set the ball better, and just like, my hands are thicker. I don’t know how to describe it, but I just feel like my fingers are more sturdy.”
She further added that she has been taping since her sophomore year, and her fellow Husker Lindsay Krause used to do it for her. After the latter graduated, Jackson continued the tradition, nevertheless.
In the NCAA first round, the middle blocker delivered a stellar performance, recording 10 kills and five aces, the highest in Nebraska’s postseason history. She repeated the feat in the second round as well, helping Nebraska Volleyball defeat K-State in straight sets despite the opponents giving them a run for their money.

Her performances in the last two rounds cemented her status as one of the team’s most prominent players, both offensively and defensively.
Jackson Receives Acclaim From Kansas State Head Coach
Jackson was named team captain alongside Rebekah Allick and Bergen Reilly for the 2025 season. She led in hitting percentage throughout the season and earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors. The Husker junior also had her season-high showing in a match against Minnesota, recording 15 kills.
Continuing her momentum in the undefeated season, the 20-year-old displayed her prowess in the NCAA second-round match-up. After the game, she received praise from K-State head coach Jason Mansfield, who noted that it’s difficult to stand in front of Jackson’s physical dominance and block her. Instead, one can defend her, which may also seem difficult most of the time.
The Huskers will play Kansas in the NCAA Regional Semifinals on Dec. 12, 2025, en route to the Championships.
