New Head Coach for South Australia Men’s Cricket Team

Harris stated his enthusiasm and dedication to the new position. Harris started his first-class career with South Australia more than 20 years ago. “I’m thrilled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of South Australia,” Harris remarked.

“Having worked closely with the boys last summer and during our current pre-season training, I know what this squad is capable of and can’t wait to get started and build on the positive steps we saw last year,” he added.

Following his playing career being cut short during the 2015 Ashes series in England due to a severe knee injury, Harris embarked on a coaching career. After making the switch to coaching, he was successful in leading the Australian under-19 squad, which he coached alongside current Victoria coach Chris Rogers to appearances in the World Cup in 2018 and 2020.

During his time as a consultant bowling coach for the Australian Test team and with Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he also acquired invaluable knowledge in white-ball cricket.

Following the end of his playing career due to a persistent knee injury sustained during the 2015 Ashes series in England, Harris embarked on his coaching career. After making the move to coaching, he was successful in leading the Australian under-19 squad, which he coached alongside current Victoria coach Chris Rogers to appearances in the World Cup in 2018 and 2020.
