He boasts of brilliant numbers in the shortest format which sparked Lucknow’s interest at the auction.
A new Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) signing justified his purchase by putting up a stellar display in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).
23-year-old Yuvraj Chaudhary, who was bought by LSG at the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction for INR 30 lakhs, registered his career-best figures during the match between Uttarakhand and Sikkim.
The batting all-rounder finished with figures of 4/15 and was also adjudged Player of the Match.
While he impressed with his bowling abilities, interestingly, it was Chaudhary’s batting that sparked the interest of the Lucknow-based franchise at the auction. Yuvraj has impressive statistics in the shortest format, scoring 385 runs in 12 matches with an average of 48.12 and a striking rate of 154.61, including one century and two half-centuries.
In the Ranji Trophy, he is currently the second-highest run-scorer for his team, amassing 497 runs in 10 innings at an average of 49.70, featuring one century and two fifties.
LSG makes a huge splash on getting Rishabh Pant
Speaking about LSG’s signings at the IPL 2025 auction, they spent a whopping INR 27 crores to make Rishabh Pant the most expensive player in IPL history.
To replace Marcus Stoinis, they bought Mitchell Marsh at INR 3.40 crores. Their next bid was Avesh Khan, getting him for INR 9.75 crores. They also bought big-hitters Abdul Samad for INR 4.20 crores and David Miller at INR 7.50 crores.
Previously, the Sanjiv Goenka-owned side had retained Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Ayush Badoni, Mohsin Khan.

It will be interesting to see who LSG will hand over the captaincy, given they have players like Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran in the ranks, although the Indian wicketkeeper-batter seems like the frontrunner for the role.
