Newcastle are now preparing a big-money move to sign a newly established England international, who Eddie Howe is already a big admirer of.
Newcastle readying blockbuster move
The Magpies cannot afford to get things wrong this summer after a disappointing Premier League campaign. Even without European qualification, PIF must find a way to welcome reinforcements and back Howe in the same way they did last summer, when they broke their transfer record to sign Nick Woltemade.

Whilst Woltemade has struggled to find his feet, despite initially getting off to a rapid start, the intention was certainly ambitious from those at St James’ Park.
New Squad Cost Ratio rules could yet hand them more leeway to spend big without having to sell a number of star players first.
Instead of looking at overall profit or losses, the new system will focus on how much clubs spend on teams compared to what they earn. Clubs must keep wages, transfers and agent fees under or on 85% of their football money or for clubs in Europe, 70%.
Newcastle now plotting stunning double Bundesliga raid to sign veteran goalkeeper and 8-goal star
The Magpies mean business.
For example, if a club earns £100m from football revenues, they shouldn’t spend more than £85m – or for clubs in Europe, £70m – on paying players and buying them.
In terms of punishment, there is a buffer of 30% for clubs to go over so that one bad season or transfer doesn’t result in an immediate harsh sanction.
That should, in theory, leave Newcastle in good stead to welcome some much-needed reinforcements this summer, including Elliot Anderson.
According to TeamTalk, Newcastle are readying a blockbuster move to re-sign Anderson just two years since he was sold in an attempt to comply with PSR rules.
Anderson would instantly replace Tonali
As rumours begin to arrive about one star midfielder, another could be heading for the exit door. According to recent reports, Sandro Tonali has attracted interest from Manchester United, who are looking to deal Newcastle a major blow.
Given that Tonali is rated at £100m, however, any sale would simply fund the arrival of a possible upgrade in the form of Anderson, who would break the club’s transfer record.

Tonali, or not many midfielders in the Premier League this season for that matter, has not been able to keep up with Anderson’s numbers. And what makes those numbers even more impressive is that the England star has been putting in those performances for a side battling relegation.
Despite interest from Man United and Man City, a reunion could now be on the cards with Howe, who has made his feelings for Anderson clear on more than one occasion.
The Newcastle boss even went as fas as to say that he would “love” to re-sign the 22-year-old if the opportunity presents itself.
