NFL veteran and two-time college national champion Bradley Bozeman announces sudden retirement from football

Los Angeles Chargers center Bradley Bozeman has announced his retirement from the NFL after eight seasons.

Bozeman’s future was uncertain going into the offseason but on Monday he decided to walk away from football forever.

The 31-year-old said on Instagram he is ‘ready for my next chapter’ and added: ‘This game has given me so much – lessons, lifelong friendships, and memories my family will carry forever. I’ve poured everything I had into this journey, and I walk away grateful and proud.

‘Someone once told me, “Every career – no matter how decorated – ends in a trash bag”. The game moves on. Someone fills your spot. I’m just thankful God gave me the chance to take the ride. On to the next chapter of life at the farm!’

Bozeman is married to wife Nikki and they share three children: Brody, Bailey and Boone.

He came into the NFL on the back of enormous success in college football. A two-time national champion with Alabama under legendary coach Nick Saban, Bozeman was front and center of their White House celebrations with Donald Trump in 2018.

He was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL draft and spent four seasons with them.

After playing left guard in his first two years as a starter, Bozeman took over at center in his final season in Baltimore.

Bozeman then joined the Carolina Panthers, where he spent two seasons. His final NFL stop was with the Chargers, joining them in 2024 and becoming a captain.

Last season, he started 16 games as Jim Harbaugh’s center but he struggled as the offensive line failed to provide sufficient protection for quarterback Justin Herbert.
