Host: “So Dave, the New York Rangers made their move prior to the break. The St. Louis Blues make their move. Two teams bottom of the standings. What team should we be expecting to be very active here when it comes to liquidating assets?”
Dave Pagnotta: “I mean, I still, I’m still looking at St Louis. They’ve got a number of pieces in play, whether it’s (Brayden) Schenn, (Justin) Faulk, (Ryan or Pius?) Suter, (Mathieu) Joseph, (Oskar) Sundqvist, (Jordan) Kyrou, etc. So they’re going to be very active.
NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames Waiting Patiently Right Nazem Kadri Trade Offer
I look at Winnipeg as well. Luke Schenn is expected to be moved ahead of the deadline. Logan Stanley as well, on the back end. They’ve got a couple other pieces that are pending UFAs. Plus, they’re also looking to buy. Like they’re also looking to bring in somebody to help stabilize that second line with Cole Perfetti and maybe something more for the summer. But they’ve been out there looking to add, whether it’s a center or somebody on the left side. They want to help increase their, their offense moving forward. I think they understand the season might be a bit of a write-off, but they’re also looking.
Nashville has pieces. Jonathan Marchessault‘s name continues to be out there. Not so much (Steven) Stamkos anymore, but more Marchessault picking up a little bit on that front. Plus, there’s (Ryan) O’Reilly. Plus, there’s other pieces. Erik Haula, who I expect to be moved as well. They have pieces out there.
Look at Calgary. Stay west. The Flames. Blake Coleman, one year left on his deal. Nazem Kadri. Three more years. Ryan Lomberg is pending UFA. MacKenzie Weegar, five more years. They’ve got a lot of pieces there that are value pieces that teams have interest in.
NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche, and the Winnipeg Jets
So there’s going to be activity. You mentioned the Rangers before moving Artemi Panarin. They got Vincent Trocheck, and they got a few other pieces that are very much in play as well. So it certainly quieted over the Olympic break.
And it’s obvious everybody was focused on that, but really, around Thursday last week is when things started to pick up again. And there are a lot of teams that have players in play.”
