In today’s NHL rumors rundown, it’s deadline day, and the last deals will go down over the next few hours. Who goes, who doesn’t? The biggest names still out there include Sergei Bobrovsky, Vincent Trocheck, Robert Thomas, Nazem Kadri, Justin Faulk, Rasmus Ristolainen, Scott Laughton, Ryan O’Reilly, Blake Coleman, and Bobby McMann. These aren’t the only names, so there could be plenty of action on Friday.
Players already moved include Nicolas Roy, Conor Garland, John Carlson, Luke Schenn, Logan Stanley, Michael Bunting, Warren Foegele, and David Perron.
Bobrovsky Interest?
Kevin Weekes: “I’m told the Oilers and Bobrovsky’s camp have had some conversations.” However, Oilers’ GM Stan Bowman said he believes the Oilers are done after adding Connor Murphy, Jason Dickinson and Colton Dach from the Chicago Blackhawks.

He said that any further addition would be a significant one.
The Montreal Canadiens remain linked to Bobrovsky as well. Weekes added, “Early morning Rumblings ; Per sources – Bobrovsky, [Jesper] Wallstedt, [Connor] Ingram, [Jordan] Binnington, [Anthony] Stolarz and [Stuart] Skinner have been discussed in different potential trade scenarios. The goalie market is intriguing.”
How Did The John Carlson Trade Happen?
The late-night trade that sent career-long Capitals defenseman John Carlson to the Anaheim Ducks is still feeling odd for some. Elliotte Friedman posted, “Still blown away by this one. Anaheim stepped up for Carlson, one of the best players in Capitals history, who is having a terrific season.’
As for when the trade went down, Friedman added, “He was asleep when trade occurred. Earlier in week, Capitals verbally agreed to Nic Dowd deal with Vegas late the night before. Trade call…”
Latest on Vincent Trocheck?
Friedman notes, “NYR have indicated they are prepared to keep Vincent Trocheck if they don’t get what they feel they need. Told teams, they are not trading him just for the sake of making a trade. Deadlines spur action…we will see what the day brings.”
Is Simon Nemec on the Move?
Pierre LeBrun reports, “Devils continue to listen on Simon Nemec, who needs a new contract this off-season. New Jersey would only move him in the right package for a top 6 young forward that impacts the group.”
Are the Maple Leafs Testing the Market on Matthew Knies?
A trade no one expects to happen, but could be the shocker of the day, might come out of Toronto.
“The chances of Auston Matthews getting traded now are equal to John Blutarsky’s grade-point average. William Nylander and John Tavares aren’t going anywhere. I heard some Matthew Knies, and that, to me, is the Maple Leafs seeing if there’s a massive offer they can’t turn down. That is the only way I see it happening,”
Is AJ Greer Being Moved by the Panthers?
AJ Greer is a player getting a lot of trade attention. So much so, the Florida Panthers pulled him from the lineup ahead of a possible deal. Head coach Paul Maurice was asked about why AJ Greer did not play Thursday night vs. Columbus: “I think they’re calling that roster management. He’s a very sought-after young man, and that’ll sort itself out over the next 24 hours.”
Market Expanding on Rasmus Ristolainen
LeBrun reported, “Market expanded today for Rasmus Ristolainen, sounds like some new teams entered the picture. Weekes added, “Ristolainen who has 1 yr remaining until he’s a UFA is generating interest from potential buyer clubs.”
Latest on Ryan O’Reilly
There hasn’t been a trade offer yet on the table for Nashville to seriously consider when it comes to Ryan O’Reilly. Considering what the price has been for centers, including Nicolas Roy, it will cost a team at least 1st and a top prospect. Teams are asking, but O’Reilly would prefer to stick with the Predators.
