NHL Rumors: Boston Bruins, and the Vancouver Canucks

The Boston Bruins are one of the teams looking at defenseman Justin Faulk

James Murphy of RG Media: The Boston Bruins weren’t able to acquire Rasmus Andersson from the Calgary Flames, but their search for a right-handed defenseman to play on their second pairing continues.

A source has said that the Bruins have held trade talks with the St. Louis Blues about Justin Faulk. Both Don Sweeney and Doug Armstrong are with Team Canada at the Olympics, but the source said that over the “past month,” the Bruins are one of multiple teams that have ticked tires on Faulk. The source adds that Sweeney and Armstrong have talked a lot about Faulk.

Multiple sources have said that others who have shown interest in Faulk include the Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Stars, and Utah Mammoth.

Elliotte Friedman has reported that the Blues are looking for a package similar to what the Flames got for Andersson – a first-round pick, a conditional second, NHL defenseman Zach Whitecloud and a prospect Abram Wiebe. The Flames retained salary.

NHL Rumors: Is Nazem Kadri The Next Top Trade Target?

Ben Kuzma of The Province: Forwards Teddy Blueger and Conor Garland could be moved at any point before the trade deadline.

After losing left winger Kevin Fiala for the season, the Los Angeles Kings may now have to hold on to left winger Warren Foegele, who has a year left at $3.25 million. The Kings had been looking at moving him and his salary as they look for centers.

The Kings interest in Canucks center Elias Pettersson may have increased. Would Pettersson waive for LA? Foegele might be a good veteran for the Canucks rebuild. The Kings do have $15 million in cap space. Kings winger Andrei Kuzmenko had 39 goals, mostly with Pettersson back in 2022-23.

The Canucks need centermen, and the Kings aren’t deep down the middle. They aren’t giving up Quinton Byfield. The Kings have a first and two seconds.

The Detroit Red Wings could use a No. 2 center and could dangle 2023 first-round pick Nate Danielson, along with a first-round pick. The Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks could be looking for a No. 2 center.

NHL Rumors: The Toronto Maple Leafs Need to Develop and Keep the ‘Next Darren Raddysh’

The problem with all the teams mentioned above is that they don’t really have an immediate center coming back to the Canucks, who could be without injured centers Filip Chytil and Marco Rossi.
