The Buffalo Sabres can’t overpay Alex Tuch
The Sheet with Jeff Marek: Brian Burke and Jeff Marek on Buffalo Sabres pending UFA Alex Tuch. You can’t overpay him, and Burke doesn’t think GM Jarmo Kekalainen will.
Marek: “If you’re in Jarmo’s shoes, how would you be handling this? Like, Tuch wants the Adrian Kempe contract (eight-years, $85 million), essentially. That’s, that’s probably where he’s at here. How would you handle this?
Burke: “Well, first off, you gotta average out what the guy’s done. Can’t take one big year and say that’s what he’s worth. You gotta average what he’s done. You got to figure out a body of work, what’s a fair rate.
You can’t overpay him just for one good year. I like Alex Tuch. He’s been a good player since he came into the league. But I wouldn’t overpay him. I don’t think they’re going to, I don’t think Jarmo’s going to.
NHL Rumors: Does Artemi Panarin Make Sense for the Colorado Avalanche?
Can the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames work out a Nazem Kadri deal?
Daily Faceoff: Nazem Kadri passes Blake Coleman in recent trade speculation. The Dallas Stars are an interesting team to watch on that front right now.
“I know there’s a lot of Blake Coleman talk. Nazem Kadri is the interesting one for me. We didn’t have this on the Rundown because I forgot. That’s one where I’m going, you know, if they make a move, and Calgary eats a little bit, and I think there’s a willingness to eat a little bit.
We’re hearing more rumblings about Nazem Kadri, at least this week. So, you know, we’ll see what direction this, this ultimately goes in. He wants to chase another championship.
Colorado would be a great spot. But Dallas and Kadri is very, very interesting to me, to see if this, this is something that might be able to work out between, you know, the Flames and the Stars.
