WBA featherweight world champion, Nick Ball, is back in action this weekend as he faces Brandon Figueroa in Liverpool.
A major talking point coming into the fight has been the remarkable difference in height. Ball stands at 5’2” in comparison to the Figeuroa at 5’9”.
Ball is no stranger to being the shorter man in the ring and actually fought with a bigger disparity in 2024 against Rey Vargas, who stands at 5’10”.
His fight with Vargas was the only occasion Ball hasn’t left the ring victorious, as the pair fought to a controversial split decision draw in Riyadh.
One of the judges had Ball winning 114-112 after he dropped Vargas twice.
He beat Raymond Ford in his next fight to pick up the WBA world title on the Matchroom vs Queensberry ‘5v5’ show in Saudi Arabia.
This time Ball was on the right side of a split decision, with two of the judges seeing him edge it 115-113.
‘The Wrecking Ball’ is on fine form since clinching his world title, with two stoppages in his last three.

Ball was most recently in action in Riyadh last August, dominating Sam Goodman over 12 rounds.

He is set to take on ‘The Heartbreaker’, who comes off an impressive unanimous decision win over former Shakur Stevenson opponent, Joet Gonzalez.
That was his first fight since losing to, at the time, WBC featherweight world champion, Stephen Fulton in their rematch, after the first fight in 2021, which Fulton also won.
