Gwalior will now host the first T20 cricket match between India and Bangladesh on October 6, instead of Dharamsala. This change is because the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association is doing renovation work in Dharamsala, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The BCCI announced that the match will be held in Gwalior due to the ongoing upgrades and renovations in the dressing rooms in Dharamsala.
This T20 match in Gwalior will be the first international cricket game at the city’s new stadium, the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. It’s also the first international match there since the historic one-day international (ODI) between India and South Africa in 2010, when Sachin Tendulkar made history by becoming the first male cricketer to score 200 runs in an ODI.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to switch the locations of the first and second Twenty20 matches against England in January next year.
Instead of hosting the first T20 match, Chennai will now host the second one. Kolkata will host the first T20 match instead of the second, which was previously announced.
The dates for both matches stay the same: the first T20 match on January 22, 2025, and the second on January 25, 2025.
This change in venues was made because the Kolkata Police asked the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to consider their commitments for Republic Day.
