Star India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has praised Jasprit Bumrah by calling him a “once-in-a-generation” bowler. Bumrah will re-enter Team India after his phenomenal performance at the T20 World Cup. He was included in India’s Test squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh that begins on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
In an interview with Vimal Kumar on YouTube, Ashwin stated that India has always been a batsman-dominated cricketing nation. While praising Bumrah, he urged people to “celebrate” the Indian fast bowlers’ star.
He continued by saying Bumrah is currently the most precious cricketer representing India.
“India has always been and will continue to be a batsmen-dominated country. But I’m so thankful that we are celebrating Jasprit Bumrah. He’s one of those bowlers whose kind comes only once across generations; we should increase our celebration for him further,” Ashwin claimed.
According to him, bowlers have always been appreciated by Chennai people. “He attended an event here as a chief guest about four or five days ago and got Raja treatment from us. A tribute to bowlers from Chennai is given; He deserves champion treatment. Without calling out names specifically, at present time, Jasprit Bumrah ranks highest among all other Indian cricketers,” he concluded.
Since making his Test cricket debut in 2018, Bumrah had appeared in 36 Tests, taking 159 wickets.
The second Test of India – Bangladesh will take place at Kanpur beginning on September 27.
