Novak opens the season at the Australian Open as draw is revealed – Novak Djokovic

The most successful player in Australian Open history will begin his 2026 campaign at Melbourne Park from January 18 to February 1, as he sets his sights on a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title.

Novak will be defending his semifinal appearance from last season, along with 720 ATP ranking points, at the year’s first major.

The official draw ceremony for the 2026 Australian Open was held on Thursday morning (CET), with the world No. 4 named as the tournament’s fourth seed.

According to the draw, Novak will begin his quest for a 102nd career title against Spaniard Pedro Martínez, the world No. 71.

Third round: Brandon Nakashima (USA, 27), Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP)
Fourth round: Jakub Menšík (CZE, 16), Tallon Griekspoor (NED, 23)

From the 24 Grand Slam titles Novak has won so far in his career, a record 10 have come at the Australian Open — in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023.
