Oba Femi Addresses Backlash Over Outdated WWE 2K26 Character Model

Oba Femi is responding directly to the early backlash surrounding his WWE 2K26 model— and he says changes are already on the way.

When WWE first revealed Femi’s entrance in WWE 2K26, many quickly noticed that it looked more like his early NXT presentation. The shorter hair, the more rigid walk, and a tame version of the signature strut that “The Ruler” has developed over the past year led to a lot of backlash online. Now, Femi has addressed it himself.

Speaking on the February 25, 2026 edition of No-Contest Wrestling, the two-time NXT Champion explained that what fans saw wasn’t a mistake — it was simply an earlier version of him captured during initial motion sessions. However, he acknowledged that his presence has evolved significantly since then.

“I mean, here’s the thing — there is a version of Oba Femi. When I first started, when we did the initial motion capture, I did walk like that and I did have my hair up. So that is a version of Oba. Now, yeah, I’ve got a little groove. I’m feeling myself a bit. We’ve found ourselves a little more. It’s been two and a half years in the game, and we’ve developed. But that original version is real.”

Femi then reassured fans that the current version of “The Ruler” will be properly represented in the game. He also made a specific gear request that longtime viewers will recognize immediately.

“And don’t worry — there are updates coming. Definitely updates coming. So fans, you’ll get the original strut with the hair down. I promise. And one more thing — we do need the red gear. I love the purple and gold, but the black and red gear? The one I faced Cody in? That’s the one.”

While early footage may have led to backlash, Femi’s message is clear: the polished, strutting version of Oba Femi is on the way in WWE 2K26.

Are you satisfied with the promised updates — or should WWE 2K26 have gotten Oba Femi’s current look right the first time? Let us know your thoughts.
