Orbea Announces New Hires and Investment for the UK and Ireland

Orbea has announced its continued commitment to the UK and Irish markets by “strengthening its commercial team, aimed at significantly increasing its presence and market share in the regions.”

The brand says it is reinforcing years of dedicated work and progress, and the company has announced a series of strategic updates for what are key territories within its global growth strategy.

According to Orbea, the core of this strategy is based on continuous and increasing investment, emphasising the territory’s importance to Orbea. A fundamental step in this process was the appointment, several months ago, of Chris Needs as Orbea’s Country Manager for the UK and Ireland. Under his leadership, the brand is executing an ambitious roadmap to optimise relationships with its network of dealers and enhance the end-customer experience.

Expanding the Commercial Force

The expansion project takes a step forward with the addition of new talent to the commercial team. Orbea has appointed two new account managers, essential figures for ensuring comprehensive territory coverage and direct support for the distribution network. These appointments are in addition to the existing account manager network and the marketing team operating from their Cardiff hub, thus strengthening the brand’s local support structure.

  • David Whild will focus on boosting the brand’s presence in the South West region of the UK.

These appointments demonstrate Orbea’s commitment to having a robust and close-knit structure, capable of responding efficiently to the demands of its retail partners.

A Business Model That Delivers Value to the Retailer

Orbea has earned a reputation as one of the current market leaders, not only for the quality of its product but also for the value it is able to provide to its network of retailers. The success of the business model is built on clear pillars that offer a competitive advantage to those who are committed to the brand:

  1. High-Quality Product: A range of specific products that offer design and innovation that push the industry forward, covering all categories (road, mountain, gravel, electric, and urban). And, a wide price spectrum, ensuring options for every type of cyclist.
  1. Year-Round Product Availability: The business model we bring to our retail network is based on flexibility and high turnover. This means we work hand-in-hand with our retail partners to offer what they need at all times and modify existing orders based on new situations that arise day-to-day. This allows us to avoid significant excess stock, offer product availability throughout the year, and thus provide our partners with a competitive advantage over the discount policies of other brands.
  2. Excellent Commercial Conditions: The brand works with conditions designed to ensure the profitability and loyalty of its partners.
  3. The MYO Program: Its exclusive customisation platform allows the user to design their dream bike bespoke, adding unmatched perceived value to the product. Or even “lite” options with often free of charge changes to specifications, or upgrades to componentry.

The result of these efforts is that our relationship with our retail network is transparent and honest. Where, through the work we have been doing together for years, we have become partners – and their success is our success. They are an essential part of our value chain, the reference point, and true drivers of our customer loyalty. Furthermore, we promote and help their channels above our own to help achieve visibility for their business.

The bicycle sector in the UK and Ireland is dynamic and demanding. The continued investment and the reinforcement of its teams are clear signs that Orbea is ready to compete at the highest level and cement itself as one of the preferred brands for both dealers and cyclists in the territories – Orbea
