The Astral Cycling Serpentine rim is an alloy rim designed for everything from wandering the backcountry on a bikepacking trip to cruising flow trails to bouncing down shuttle-access-only trails. With a 32mm internal width, 20mm depth, and an asymmetric (ASYM) rim design that improves spoke tension balance by up to 30% for added strength, stiffness, and longevity of trueness.

At 1815g for the set, these wheels aren’t light nor are they super heavy, but they are reliable, and they sure do scratch an itch that we’re all feeling: more silver rims and components in general. This matte-silver finish won’t require polishing or babying, but still has that pop of nostalgia that is becoming modern again.

Hubs
At the center of these wheels are the White Industries CLD+ hubs. The rear hub uses a heat-treated steel 48-tooth drive ring that threads into the hub shell, offering 7.5 degrees of freehub engagement, with 3 heat-treated steel freehub pawls and stainless steel leaf springs. The CLD+ hubs are easily serviceable and rebuildable, but since they aren’t in a matte finish like the rims, you might need to get a new bottle of Mothers Aluminum Polish to keep them popping.
The hubs come in a smattering of colors, including Black, Polished Silver, Blue, Gold, Pink, Purple, and Red. Any color other than Black will incur a +$50 USD upcharge.
