Packers’ Jayden Reed Had A Strong Emotional Reaction To Dontayvion Wicks Trade

The Green Bay Packers turned heads on Friday when news broke that they had traded wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.

It’s an intriguing move for both sides. The trade for Wicks takes place amid rumors about the future of star wide receiver AJ Brown in Philly. The trade could be a hint about a potential Browns trade away from the City of Brotherly Love. There were already lots of speculations about that potentially happening, and this trade for Wicks only adds fuel to the rumors.

Meanwhile, the Packers part ways with an asset they welcomed in the league in 2023. He was a fifth-round pick by Green Bay in the 2023 NFL Draft. Green Bay’s depth remains fine even after parting ways with Wicks, but they still lost someone who gave the team 11 receiving touchdowns through three seasons. The trade could also signify bigger roles for quarterback Jordan Love’s other downfield weapons, including Jayden Reed.

Reed sends a message to Wicks after a Packers-Eagles trade

The 25-year-old Reed and Wicks are close to each other, given the fact that they entered the NFL at the same time. Green Bay selected Reed in the second round of the 2023 draft. He showed immediate promise when he racked up a total of 793 receiving yards to go along with eight touchdowns on 64 receptions and 94 targets through 16 games.

Reed and Wicks did not play much together in 2025, as Reed missed several games due to injuries and surgeries.

On Instagram, Reed posted several reactions to Wicks’ departure from Green Bay, including one showing the two wide receivers in practice.

“Damn dawg,” Reed captioned the post.

Even though they are no longer teammates, it’s safe to say that Reed and Wicks will always be connected to each other.

In Wicks’ final season in Green Bay threads, the former Virginia Cavaliers wideout recorded 332 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 30 catches and 46 targets through 14 games.
