Packers Linked To Dual Threat Quarterback Prospect In New Mock Draft

The Green Bay Packers are preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft, looking to add younger talent after fading late in the 2025 season. One national analyst has suggested the team could consider selecting a quarterback later this month.

ESPN analyst Ben Solak recently put together a mock draft highlighting ideal landing spots for quarterbacks in this year’s class. In his projection, he connected Green Bay with Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green as a possible successor to Malik Willis, who agreed to a $67.5 million deal with the Miami Dolphins in free agency.

“His throwing mechanics are extremely rough, making him more reminiscent of Colin Kaepernick than [Anthony] Richardson or [Cam] Newton,” the NFL insider wrote.

“Green’s accuracy is predictably scattershot, and his inconsistency hitting layups makes it tough to build a reliable passing game around him. As such, any offense fielding Green would need to rely heavily on the QB running game; he should see 10-plus carries in any game he plays, a league-leading rate.”

On paper, Green Bay appears to be a natural landing spot for a quarterback prospect like Green. The Packers rely on a run-focused scheme that tends to suit mobile quarterbacks who are still working to improve their accuracy.

Solak also noted that the Packers have a history of going after quarterbacks who can make plays with their legs.

“Under Matt LaFleur, the Packers have hugely prioritized athleticism at the QB2 spot. The outgoing Malik Willis is one of the league’s best dual-threat quarterbacks, but even QB3 Clayton Tune was one of the best testers at his position. Behind Jordan Love are Desmond Ridder (another great tester) and Kyle McCord, so the QB2 job is wide open,” Solak continued.

It will be interesting to watch whether Green Bay looks to pursue a prospect like Green in the draft.
