NFL free agency exposed a fairly significant NFL Draft need for the Packers.
When Romeo Doubs departed to sign with the New England Patriots, the Packers’ receiving corps was trimmed to unproven but inconsistent former first-round pick Matthew Golden, injury-prone veteran Christian Watson, and the likes of Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed.
NFL Draft 2026: Could Packers choose a WR early?
When the NFL Draft hits the second round next month, general manager Brian Gutekunst could look to add a receiver to quarterback Jordan Love’s arsenal.
Over at The Draft Network, Keith Sanchez argues that Oklahoma wide receiver Deion Burks could be the Packers’ ideal target in the second round.
“Burks has electric speed and is a good route runner,” Sanchez writes for the Draft Network. “Providing the Packers with a dynamic player on the offensive side that they can find creative ways to get the football to and make plays.”
At 5-foot-9 and 188 pounds, Burks caught 57 passes for 620 yards and four touchdowns, and could fit the profile of the kind of receiver the Packers have made a habit of collecting in recent years. After allowing Doubs to walk, taking a receiver, any receiver early may be one of general manager Brian Gutekunst’s top priorities.
