The Green Bay Packers are going into the 2026 off-season looking to take their roster from playoff contention to Super Bowl contention. The last three years in a row has seen Green Bay enter the playoffs as the seven seed and fail to make it past the divisional round.
With a numerous superstars expected to return from injury at (or near) the start of the 2026 season, Green Bay is hoping this is their year. However, there is one free agent who made it clear he won’t sign with the Packers.
Packers See Free Agent Randomly Say He Won’t Sign With Green Bay
During an episode of the Lions Collective podcast, Detroit Football Network’s Justin Rogers revealed that in his long one-on-one conversation with Decker—detailing his frustrations with the lack of communication from the Lions—he also revealed that Decker doesn’t want to tarnish his Lions legacy by signing with a rival.
“He wants to play for a winner (but) he’s kinda thinking about, ‘Is it cheap to win somewhere else after you’ve invested all your energy emotionally and physically into one franchise?’” Rogers said.
“I will tell you that he’s pretty anti-playing for the Bears and Packers. That’s the Lions background. I know Ben Johnson did it and that was the right situation for him, but Taylor feels kinda dirty about the idea. It just isn’t interesting to him.”
It’s a bold move to announce you’ll refuse to play for a team (let alone two) when you are looking for your next paycheck. Decker has been clear that he hasn’t appreciated the lack of communication from the Lions since the start of the off-season.
If he keep this up, he won’t have communication from any NFL team.
