PAK end 22-year winless drought

Pakistan defeated Australia in the third and final ODI by eight wickets to secure the series 2-1, which ended their 22-year long winless drought in Australia. Let’s look at AUS vs PAK 3rd ODI Highlights.

Having won their last ODI series way back in 2002, the newly appointed captain Mohammad Rizwan-led side has managed to break the shackles and opened the room for men in green to win in Australia.  

It was again low-scoring encounter, where Australia being completed outplayed by the visiting side.

Invited to bat, Australia once again faced a shaky start and lost their first wicket on 20, and second on 36.  

The stand-in skipper Josh Inglish also scored only seven, while seniors Stoinis got out for 8, and Maxwell didn’t even open his account.  

Sean Abbott’s 30 somehow helped Australia to reach 140, which was still a low total, as Pakistani batters easily chased down the target.  

Openers, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique added 84 for the first wicket for Pakistan before Shafique left the crease after scoring 37, and Saim Ayub for 42.  

Former skipper Babar Azam and the current skipper Mohammad Rizwan then guided their side to a comfortable victory after adding 58 in 53 balls.  

Azam remained unbeaten 28 off 30, while Rizwan scored 30* off 27, as Pakistan won the third ODI with 23.1 overs to spare.

Pakistan’s pacers dominance in Australia 

Pakistani pacers have undoubtedly dominated the 3-match series, starting from first one. Defending a low total of 204 in Melbourne, the visitors’ bowlers dismissed eight Aussie batters at 185 before Cummins drove his side home safely.  

The men in green seamers then completed the unfinished task of claiming all ten wickets in second ODI by bowling them out for 163, followed by a far better performance in third game when they bundled out the Australia team at 140.  

Haris Rauf bagged the maximum wickets for Pakistan with 10 in three matches, including a fifer. The left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi took eight scalps with 3 two-wicket hauls. Naseen Shah grabbed five, while Mohammad Hasnain took three.
