PAK vs BAN 1st Test Day 1 Updates: The rain-infused first test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh started with a loss in the first season due to heavy rain and a wet outfield. Owing to a delayed start, the match began at 2:30 PM IST, with 48 overs allotted for play in the final two sessions of the first day. Bangladesh’s bowlers were spot on, taking wickets early in this maiden test match at Rawalpindi to put Pakistan on the defensive, as Pakistan finished for 158/4 in 41 overs.

After winning the toss the visiting decided to bowl first considering the fast nature of the pitch. A calm knock of 56 runs from 98 balls by Saim Ayub shifted the control of the game towards the home team and Saud Shakeel also helped the opener in rebuilding the innings for Pakistan, as he scored 57* runs from 92 balls.

Bangladesh Bowlers Unable to Capitalize on Early Breakthroughs

After winning the toss and deciding to bowl, Bangladesh bowlers started the onslaught with three early wickets. Even star batsman Babar Azam was dismissed for 2 ball duck and even the home team skipper Shan Masood had no answers to the attack of Bangladesh bowlers. First, it was Hasan Mahmud who picked the first wicket for Bangladesh and then it was Shoriful Islam who picked two wickets in the gap of two overs.

While Hasan Mahmud provided the much-needed wicket to break the partnership between Saim Ayub and Saud Shakeel. Even though Bangladesh bowlers showed their spirit in restricting the home team they certainly failed to continue the pressure. With Pakistan’s middle-order batsman standing strong on the crease, the away side failed to capitalize on the early breakthroughs.

After a terrible start, the home side have crawled back into the game, thanks to fifties from Saim Ayub and Saud Shakeel. However, the Bangladesh side failed to fully utilize the early breakthroughs which allowed Pakistan to come back into the game. Pakistan will now start day 2 with 158/4 on the scoreboard, where they will try to put on few more runs on the board with Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan on the crease.
