Arshad Nadeem made history at the Paris Olympics 2024 by winning the gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw, marking Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in over three decades. The proud moment is not only celebrated by Arshad’s family, villagers and fans, but also the other sportmen in Pakistan including the cricketers.

Arshad Nadeem’s gold medal at Paris Olympics 2024 makes waves on internet

Nadeem’s incredible throw of 92.97 meters in his second attempt shattered the previous Olympic record set by Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

This victory is monumental, as it is Pakistan’s first-ever individual Olympic gold and the first in athletics. The gold medal ended a 32-year Olympic medal drought for Pakistan, with the nation’s last medal being a bronze in field hockey at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Arshad Nadeem’s achievement has secured his place as a national hero, bringing immense pride and joy to Pakistan.

India’s Neeraj Chopra, the defending Olympic champion, claimed the silver medal with a throw of 89.45 meters. Grenada’s Anderson Peters secured the bronze with a throw of 88.54 meters. The final round was highly competitive, featuring eight of the world’s top javelin throwers from countries including Czechia, Kenya, Germany, Trinidad and Tobago, and Finland.

Despite a shaky start with his first throw being a “No throw,” Nadeem’s resilience shone through. He followed up his record-breaking second throw with another impressive attempt of 88.72 meters and sealed his victory with a final throw of 91.79 meters.

The event, which took place at 11:25 pm Pakistan Standard Time, was eagerly watched by millions across Pakistan. Nadeem’s success was particularly poignant, as he overcame significant challenges, including a recent injury, to achieve his historic win. His triumph was widely celebrated, with support pouring in from across the nation, including a heartfelt message from cricket captain Babar Azam, who had rallied the nation behind Nadeem.
