Parker Lalonde and Justin Gill named to Hockey East All-Rookie Team

Merrimack forwards Parker Lalonde and Justin Gill were both named to the Hockey East Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team on Wednesday.

Providence goaltender Jack Parsons was the only unanimous selection.

The team features eight players:

F — Parker Lalonde, Merrimack
F — Justin Gill, Merrimack
F — Giacomo Martino, Northeastern
F — Jacob Mathieu, Northeastern
F — Roger McQueen, Providence
D — Quinn Mantel, Providence
D — Luke Radivojevic, Boston College
G — Jack Parsons, Providence

Lalonde and Gill enter tonight’s Hockey East first-round matchup against UMass Lowell as Merrimack’s leading scorers, tied with 32 points. Lalonde has 12 goals and 20 assists through 33 games, while Gill has recorded 16 goals and 16 assists in 31 games.

Gill’s 16 goals are the most by a Merrimack player in a single season since Mike Collins scored 17 as a junior in 2012–13. It’s also the most by a Merrimack freshman since Stephane Da Costa scored 16 goals in 2009–10.

According to CHN data, Merrimack has not had a freshman forward score more than 16 goals during the program’s Hockey East era. The last freshman to surpass that mark was Ben Lebeau, who scored 35 goals (40 games) as a freshman in 1987–88, when Merrimack was still a Division I independent before joining Hockey East two years later.

Lalonde and Gill’s 32 points are the most by a Merrimack freshman since Da Costa posted 45 points (16 goals, 29 assists) during his freshman campaign in 2009–10.
