Later this year, Australia will welcome the Indian men’s cricket team for a five-match Test series. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the 2024-25 season is to commence in Perth on the 22nd of November with the other four matches taking place in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney respectively. After their defeat to India in last year’s World Test Championship and ODI World Cup finals, the Aussies are keen on winning the Test series with India this year more so because they have lost the previous four in a row of Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. And of the four Test series, two were in Australia, and both times, Team India won 2-1.
There’s no denying that India’s past two test tours of Australia were quite good, but it will not be that easy for the World Test Championship 2023-25 leaders to beat the Aussies this time.
Even before the commencement of this high-profile Test series, Pat Cummins, the Australian skipper, who was speaking on Star Sports’ Press Room, issued a warning to Team India in which he mentioned that this time the home team has recovered from the disappointing results in the last two series and has resolved to do better.
“We’ve had a bit of a break, so I’m excited for the five-match Test series. Excited to get into it. We haven’t had a lot of luck against India over the last few Test series, but we always pride ourselves on playing well here in Australia,” Cummins said.
“The most recent two series were some time ago, therefore I believe we have moved past it. But we do have quite high ambitions when it comes to playing Test cricket in Australia. and I think that is from the fans, that is from the media and all that. So whenever we lose down here, I mean naturally, you analyze those series a little more meticulous.”
I have to say that the previous series was a very challenging one especially this another one. It was very competitive indeed and reached a climax up to the last session out in the Gabba, although sadly, we couldn’t get the victory. Many of the boys in the squad are the same who played that particular series and so, we are here to put things right,” he concluded.
Having become the Test captain of Australia in 2011 after Timothy Paine. He hays led the Baggy Greens in three Test Matches against India but managed to win only one.
