Pat Spencer says what he’s not expecting when Stephen Curry returns for the Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have been in tough without Stephen Curry, who’s out with a left quad contusion.

The Golden State Warriors have done their best to stay afloat without their superstar Stephen Curry.

They have been playing .500 basketball with a 13-12 record and are on a two-game win streak.

One of the players who has stepped up immensely for the Warriors in Curry’s absence is Pat Spencer.

Spencer’s impressive run started when he scored 17 points off the bench against the Oklahoma City Thunder, helping the Warriors almost pull off the huge upset.

He then scored 16 points along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists in a narrow loss against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Spencer then got his first-career start against the Cleveland Cavaliers and put up a career-high 19 points in the Warriors’ win.

He got the start again against the Chicago Bulls and posted 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in another Dubs’ victory.

Spencer talked about his role when Curry comes back from injury.

“[Kerr] doesn’t owe me a conversation…

“We may address it, we may not, but ultimately my whole career has been built off of staying ready.”

Spencer’s journey to this point has been nothing short of inspiring.

He went from going undrafted out of Northwestern to playing overseas. From riding the bench in Summer League to getting a chance in the G League.

Now Spencer’s in his second season as a two-way player for the Warriors and he is making the most out of his opportunity as a starter.

Spencer has proven that he deserves minutes in the Warriors’ rotation even when Curry returns.
