PCB opens fresh talk to revive Champions Trophy talks

A PCB official has also confirmed this arrangement.

In a recent development coming in, India’s External affairs minister S Jaishankar travelled to Pakistan to talk about India’s potential chances of travelling to the country for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

While there has been no official confirmation yet on India’s travel, it definitely raises hopes of the Indian team to make the trip to Pakistan for the mega-event.

Added to that, there have been developments to make India’s travel possible. Amongst them, one is offering assistance to the Indian team to return to India – either to Chandigarh or New Delhi, after the completion of each game to avoid staying in Pakistan due to security concerns. A PCB official has also confirmed this arrangement, highlighting that there is close to a week gap between the last two matches, a Cricbuzz report confirmed.

Final decision yet to be taken by the Indian government

However, the final decision on whether the Indian team will travel to Pakistan for the eight-nation 50-over tournament lies with the Indian Government. At this point, neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) nor the International Cricket Council (ICC) can provide any confirmation.

The Champions Trophy is scheduled to run from February 19 to March 9, with games set to take place in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has arranged for all of India’s matches to be held in Lahore, considering logistical convenience and security issues.

Additionally, Lahore was chosen because of its proximity to the border, making it easier for Indian fans to attend. India’s three group-stage matches are slated for February 20 (against Bangladesh), February 23 (against Pakistan), and March 2 (against New Zealand).
