The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given out good news to Babar Azam before the 2025 Champions Trophy, confirming that Babar will continue as the captain of the white-ball teams. Recently, some rumours came out regarding Babar being removed as the captain after Pakistan’s horrible outing in the 2024 T20 World Cup, though it seems as Babar will continue as Pakistan’s white-ball captain.
In the release, PCB mentioned that Babar is the white-ball captain. Pakistan team surprisingly does not have a designated ODI captain. Babar stepped away from being Pakistan’s all-format captain after the 2023 ODI World Cup.
PCB declared Shaheen Afridi as the new T20i captain and Shan Masood was give captaincy for the test team. However, there was no word for the new ODI captain.
Pakistan has also not participated in any ODI matches since the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Babar is ready to play as the ODI captain in the next series. He made a shocking return as T20I captain before the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Pakistan will make their comeback to the ODI format in November as they will host England. The teams are set to play three ODIs. Before the ODI matches, Pakistan is to play three Tests.
